I am partnering with Eleanor Mann, to offer Breathwork workshops for Sydneysiders. Eleanor has been head counselor of family support services and previously of teams at disaster welfare in the Blue mountains has completed a psychology degree and is now completing masters of psychology. Alakh bases herself on the northern NSW coast at Byron Bay and has been training breathwork practitioners since 1993 as a self paced trainings in Australia and overseas. She has an Advanced Diploma of Breathwork Mastery trainer and supervisor. Alakh offers a range of workshops, retreats and courses in Breathwork. Alakh's approach to Breathwork is as a path of self mastery and expanding mindful self awareness - a process of authentic de-conditioning and reprogramming - at a cellular level. http://rebirthing.com.au/ Many of you will know Robyn Fernance - she was originally a member of Australian Institute of Rebirthing in 1986; joined Australian Association for Professional Rebirthers in 1999 and became its first membership officer, as well as taking on the Treasury of AAPR in 2001.
In 2000 the ABA was born and Robyn holds membership number 008-2000. For many of those years since has been in very loving and committed service to the Association on the committee. She spent many many years as Treasurer and Membership officer.Robyn has recently 'retired' from being on the ABA committee for a very welcome look at what life looks like beyond the ABA!! She is still a beloved member, and is generously available to support the current committee whilst we continue to learn the ropes. Robyn was not present at the Breathe Australia Conference for us to acknowledge her and give her a gift of our appreciation. So a week before Christmas, we presented the gift of a card "signed" by many of the members and a beautiful gift of a dwarf mandarin fruit tree that has been grafted onto flying dragon rootstock. Robyn is a Breathwork Trainer and metaphysician so she got a get a kick out of that metaphysically. “The Dragon is the symbol of primordial power. It is master of all elements: fire, water, air and earth. As a spirit guide, it makes a powerful ally in our daily life with its amazing restorative and potent qualities.” As her gift was presented to her the sky opened up and the tree was nurtured from the summer rain. Robyn is a keen gardener and her suburban garden is full of food bearing trees and vegetables. The ABA loves Robyn and are looking forward to an non committee member relationship with her in coming years. This little gem came from the September newsletter of published by the International Breathwork Foundation.
Linking GIC 2017 and 2018 - presenting the results of an experiment measuring the effect of breathwork sessions on our vibrational frequency, conducted at GIC 2017. Dear friends, Coming back from the GIC in France, reviewing my notes, I came across the few words I wrote down from Judith Kravitz's talk. Joy = Light + Love. And I started to hear words pouring into my head, so I decided to put them down on paper and offer them to you. I would not consider myself a joyous person based on the meaning of what joy means for many people: laughing, smiling generously, being extrovert and spreading this joy all around you in this way. My joy is more silent. It is a state I feel inside my body as an expansion in my heart, very much mixed with love and gratitude. For me, joy is one of the natural consequences of being aligned with the divine in us, with our true essence, our true Self. Each of us is a shining sun. The way our light shines inside and outside determines our vibration. Even if sometimes clouds get in the way, the sun is always present. Our clouds are our limited beliefs, traumas, frozen emotions, fears, etc. Sometimes they have been there for so long, that we think that is the way we are. My personal experience is of course not. Our true nature is wellbeing; our true nature is to shine. Thank God, I came across breathwork before going to a psychiatrist J ! So looking at the formula: Joy = love + light. Because our true Self is love, and our true Self is light, when you expand one, you expand the others. It's all in the same pack. You cannot feel love in your heart and have a low vibrational frequency of light. So you can start with any side of the equation and get all the others lighting up as a consequence. Isn't that great?! Breathing is raising your vibration Your vibration is your personal energy frequency. It can be measured, and here below, I present you the outcome of a trial I did at the GIC in Austria in 2017, measuring the effect of a full breathing session on our vibration. Vibration emanates from your soul, your personal being, your thoughts and emotions, whether conscious or unconscious. How bright, light and clear is your light shining? How clear is your sky? The higher, the happier, in love and expansion you feel inside, then by the universal law of manifestation, you will attract a higher level of experiences and people into your life. The lower, the denser, both mentally and emotionally you feel…sadness, fear… will also make you susceptible to attracting people and situations that resonate to such a low frequency like a magnet: complaints, darkness, anxiety, etc… and also presences (lost souls for example) that usually are in pain wandering around in our world. My experience investigating this frequency for years in clients, and myself is that even if it fluctuates within a certain range, there is a mean vibrational frequency that is stable and reflects your personal and spiritual consciousness. If it goes down to a lower level, which can happen, you will immediately feel it as a drop in your natural wellbeing. If it happens don't stay there, it's NOT your natural state. Once you remove the disturbance from your field, mind and body, your being will automatically readjust to your natural light. And this can happen very quickly. Breathing is one way while energy balancing is another one of my favourite ways. How can we measure our vibration? Being a statistician, I have always liked to bring measurement to the energy work I do. For years, I have been measuring the vibration in myself and later in my clients, using the pendulum and numerical charts. (By the way, if you know more scientifically proved methods - contact me). So when, at the GIC 2017, I heard of the investigative research being conducted by the IBF science and research group (presented this year by Dr Philippa Wheble), I asked if I could join them, and I did (thank you my friends for this). Read More for the results.. I experienced a complete renewal of enthusiasm in Spring 2017 in delivering a Level 1 Breath Awareness training. So much so that I build myself a workshop studio at the end of the garden and this year have conducted 2 x eight day retreats, weekends and regular breathing circles and meditation evenings. The paradox of a unique individual journey set in the context of what it means to be human and learning how to navigate the human condition is unendingly fascinating. For over thirty years now I have felt the privilege of accompanying clients and student on their inner journey of discovery with the breath. In 2019 there will be 2 x 8 day retreats as well as a number of Breath Awareness weekend experiences. I love the longer retreats because we all have the time and space to dive deeply within - time to create real transformation. A participant in the 2018 Spring Retreat said: “The week was full of unexpected and welcome surprises. After being home for two weeks now I am still experiencing being in a more settled place within myself. Smiling on the inside probably covers it best. There was so much gentle movement of energy in mind, body and more for all who were there. I am looking forward to more in the coming year.” An Autumn 2018 participant said: “The individual Breathwork sessions were exceptional, as well as the benefit of witnessing others. The paradigms of healing and the healing journey were so helpful.”
The annual Global Inspiration Conference is a week-long celebration of the breath. It is held in a different country each year, in a venue with beautiful natural surroundings. The GIC is a wonderful opportunity to exchange views, teach, learn and receive inspiration from like-minded friends and colleagues.
Each year an Australian contingent joins in. Check out this years pilgrims to GIC. Best of GIC 2018 from Joël Jégo on Vimeo. Meet Margaret Schooneveldt
Treasurer & Membership Officer Margaret is an amazing addition to the ABA Committee after she "put up her hand" at the AGM in 2017 as a graduating Breathwork student. Margaret has done an amazing job of treasurer and this year also took on the role of membership after Robyn Fernance retired from the committee. Margaret's back round is in banking and she brings to the association a wealth of knowledge and simplicity to the role of treasurer. She has a no fuss attitude, a big heart and a love of Breathwork. Read on to find out a bit more about her. Where you you born? Greensborough Victoria. What is your favourite thing to do that is just for you? Reading – To lose myself in the pages of a really good book. Imagining the characters coming to life as if I know them and am able to share their story. Walking – Just being on my own with nature and enjoying my surroundings. What was the last book you read/are reading? Breaking the Habit of being yourself. Dr Joe Dispensa Are you an early bird or a night owl? Early Bird. I seem to get so much more done in the morning. I am always more focused. What do you love about Breathwork? Breathwork has provided me with a better understanding of where I come from and where I am heading. Through the breath I have learnt to be softer with myself and others. What do you love about working with your fellow committee members? The understanding that each and every one has for each other and their current circumstances. A sense of belonging and being in a caring community. Are you a mountains or beach person, or something else? Can’t separate the two. I love the mountains and the trees, but I love walking along the beach as the sun goes down listening to the waves and feeling the day quieten. What are you passionate about? My family and community. Being able to give back to others. Every year a small contingent of Australian Breathwork practitioners and trainers take the pilgrimage to attend the Global Inspiration Conference (GIC) celebrating Breathwork globally. The conference is held in a different country each year in July and this year it was held in France.
This is Ghislaine Bouslika's take on GIC 2018. What she saw, who she met and how much inspiration it provides to everyone who attends. Ghislaine is the International Breathwork Foundation (IBF) National representative for Australia (long term ABA member). The Global Inspiration Conference of 2018 was held in France and had the theme Breathe In joy! The intention was very much fulfilled by the 250+ participants coming from 25 countries around the globe. Australia was very well represented as you can see from the photo. I think our faces say it all, nothing to add really, we are definitely Breathing in Joy! A word of warning, going to the Global Inspiration Conference is quite addictive. Every year for one week you can breathe Consciously every day, relax thanks to the friendliness of the participants, open your heart with the love shared and let go and transform with tears or with laughter, you are with like minded people, safe and nourished.
